This week’s new projects all engage the imagination of students. They will go on a Treasure Hunt, plan their ultimate car or dream of the Roaring Twenties:
What could be more thrilling than pirates? Maybe a treasure hunting pirate adventure! This project covers common core standards in 8th grade math. Students will use graphing linear equations and inequalities skills through three different pirate adventures. The project based learning model allows students to learn in an academic environment that teaches not only fundamental academic facts but also 21st century skills such as critical thinking and problem solving that are key in today’s world. The project features a number of teaching tools such as learning guides, worksheets as well as multimedia content. Students will be sure to love this stimulating project.
My Dream Vehicle
Most kids can’t wait to own their first car, or to even drive for the first time! Like most of our projects this project takes a topic of interest for students and converts that into an exhilarating learning experience. The project covers common core standards in 6th and 7th grade math. The project uses the students’ dream vehicle as an incentive for learning. Students decide on their dream automobile then learn important math concepts through different challenges such as calculating expenses for buying their car, upgrading it and the future cost for loans, etc. The project uses excellent teaching tools such as step by step instructions, concept reinforcing worksheets etc. and builds essential real life skills such as self-direction skills and creative thinking. The core elements of this project are sure to draw students in at the outset!
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby
This compelling project uses F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic masterpiece, “The Great Gatsby” to cover common core standard in 11th to 12th grade English language arts. Students learn the importance of annotating and jotting down various thoughts and ideas while reading a piece of writing and their role in understanding the deeper meaning of a certain piece of literature. This project uses various teaching resources such as worksheets, detailed guides and collaboration tools to instill important values and to teach 21st century skills such as critical and creative thinking. This project is a great way to develop interest in literature.
