NextLesson is pleased to announce the winners of our Real World Photo Contest (drum roll, please):
Grand Prize (Best example of helping students connect to the real world) goes to Monica Alicea of Cheatham Hill Elementary with her Building a Library photo.
Here is an excerpt from her real world entry:
“The idea was launched after See Beautiful founder and CEO Dr. Lydia Mays visited Dr. Alicea’s class to share ways students can turn their passions into service. Students created their own promotional flyers, wrote announcements to inspire the Cheatham Hill community and ultimately collected more than 2,300 books to support a library for children at the St. Anne’s Center, a faith-based organization that provides food, shelter and emergency services for those in need.”
Inspiration Prize one goes to Alyssa Santos (@aksantos06) with her photo showing items traced back to their natural resource:
“@NextLesson #realclassroom K’ picked a “thing” from daily life & traced it back to its natural resource. #watercolor”
Inspiration Prize two goes to Donna Cogbill (@cogbilld) with her photo about their collaboration stations:
“@NextLesson #realclassroom students work in our collaboration station on their projects!”
We received a lot of great entries and will be featuring some of the others next fall. Congratulations to all of our winners!
